Inspiration to drawing loose

Review Date: April 28, 2009
Reviewer: HandyMan,
This is a very good book on showing a technique of "less is more".
I am a painting student and I love the free/looseness of the illustrations. It is not a how-to, rather, an inspiration or idea book.
Figure Drawing made interesting

If your figure drawings are uptight, then this is the appropriate book to let you see how a looser style of drawing can be achieved.
Great Inspirational Book for Capturing Movement

Review Date: November 28, 2009
Reviewer: M. Crawford, Carlsbad CA
I love this book! It's inspiring for capturing movement, vibrancy and creativity in depicting the figure in quick sketches, drawings, watercolor or ink. Highly recommend it for your art library. This is not a typical instructional book. It's mainly various examples of the author's work and brief descriptions of how she got there. There are a few instances in which she sequenced pictures to demonstrate how she arrived at the finished product.
Beautiful photographs and descriptions of the artist's work!

Love, love, love the artist's technique! If you like this stylized, fashion-drawing method of capturing the human figure in bold, beautiful colors, then this book is a must have. Brief descriptions of each drawing adds a personal and instructional touch. It's a keeper.
Somewhat disappointing...

Review Date: May 13, 2009
Reviewer: E. Kim, Boston, MA
I was hoping to gain some practice on fashion drawing given the cover picture. The drawings and paintings within this book are refreshing but a bit too two-dimensional & flat. I agree with the previous reviewer in that most of final paintings are superficial. However, if you want a different way of blending drawing and painting, then this book offers a few good pointers.
